Hello
I need a suggest. I have to run a shape optimization with SU2 and i'm in trouble because i need to build a mesh of a 2D airfoil.
I'm in trouble because the only mesh generator i know well is ICEM, and my student version is only for windows, while I've installed SU2 on Linux.
I'm also starting familiarize with OPENFOAM.

Now i don't know how to obtain a mesh compatible with SU2. Can i generate it by ICEM and then export to SU2? Or is it better learning BlockMesh or Snappy and then change the format?

Thanks for help

Hi,
from ICEMCFD you have to save the grid as CGNS format, while SU2 has to be compiled with the CGNS library. If you want to export a grid in SU2 native format you have to use Pointwise
For more info refers to https://github.com/su2code/SU2/wiki/Mesh-File

Anyway, in my case I compiled SU2 (release 3) with CGNS_3.2.1 library while exporting from ICEMCFD as CGNS 2.4

Thanks Jiba.
To save in CGNS format have i only do "save as" and then write .CGNS?

In the tab "Output mesh" -> "Select solver" choose CGNS.
In the same tab select "write input" and pick the CGNS version.
As written before I used 2.4 as the others gave errors in SU2, but it's upon the library you compile
