Dear all;

Has anybody tried SU2 multi species air-7 model? I am going to study hypersonic flow but do not know how to set some items in *.cfg file based on multi species Model of SU2 tutorial. Can anybody share a *.cfg file for air-7 model hypersonic case?

Thank you very much.

Hi James,

Let me first say thanks for your interest in SU2. I'm one of the two primary architects for the hypersonic solvers within SU2 and I'd be happy to answer your questions as best I can.

Let me first preface my response with a caveat that the hypersonic solver within SU2 is undergoing major changes and revisions at this time. The formulation currently in place (described in detail in this publication: http://arc.aiaa.org/doi/abs/10.2514/...rchHistoryKey=) is non-standard, and as a consequence we have encountered some additional unforseen difficulties. This solver has been "frozen" and we are moving forward with a more standard formulation of the governing equations.

At the time of the "freezing", the seven-species air gas model was not supported (despite it being listed in the default configuration file), my apologies for any confusion. The five-species, N2, and Argon models should be working normally. If you have questions about setting up a configuration file, I would be happy to help with specific questions, or I can send you an email with a copy of one of my configuration files.

My strong recommendation is that if you can wait a few weeks, the new hypersonic solver will be completed and should be much easier to use. The new solver will support a host of gas models in a flexible framework. I will post updates to the solver on our code's social media pages, so please stay tuned for developments:

Twitter: https://twitter.com/su2code

I will also focus on documentation for the new solver and will be uploading a new tutorial for hypersonic calculations once the new solver is complete. Again, I apologize for any difficulties and please let me know how I can help.

Regards,
-Sean

Dear Sean

Sorry to answer your post with delay. Thanks a lot for your reply and also your code. I will wait for your new release and then I will again ask you any help.

Yours sincerely,

JAlbert

Sir,
I am beginner of SU2. I am trying to solve M=12 wind tunnel nozzle for P0 = 10 bar and T0=1300 K. How can I simulate real gas with variable gama? What are setting can be made in configuration file? I am using SU2 4.1.0 version.

Regards
