Ansys Triangular Mesh

Hey guys,
i´m fairly new to Structural analysis. I´m working with the student version of Ansys. I need help with meshing my beam. my beam is 100mm/20mm/1mm (l/w/t). how do i get a mesh like the picture? Have a nice day and thanks in advance! |

What pre-processor are you using, Workbench, HyperMesh...? These elements are called R-Tria, that basically means that the shape is right angle triangle. This elements are usefull for certain applications but mainly to create 3D mesh and define specific detail to define contacts. You can create it directly or spliting cuadrilateral elements. But my recomnedation is that for 2D mesh you should use cuadrilateral elements from now on because triangular ones are stiffer.
