I'm running a Static Structural analysis and decided to do so on a quarter model of the overall load bearing structure I'm analyzing. What I need to know is if I can use constraint equations on a face of one of the components. I know how to do this in Abaqus but I'm unsure if I can with Mechanical. Essentially, I have a 3D beam that I cut in half. I want to constrain the face of the cut such the the cut cannot move normal to the face and only have freedom to rotate about the axial direction. My questions include:
-If I select the desired face to apply constraint equations, does ANSYS automatically assign a local coordinate system to that face? If so, how will I know which directions are X, Y, and Z? -Am I taking the correct approach in applying constraint equations? -Do I create a Remote Point for each face that I want to limit movement? -Is there a simpler way to achieve what I'm wanting to do? I appreciate any advice! Thanks in advance. |
