Hello,

This topic is very new to me and the resources available are very limited.

My issue is that I am trying to simulate a thermal shock analysis on an object to assess if there would be any substantial damage after the object sees an increase in temperature of around 100C.

The only method of analysis that I can think of is to apply all the loads and assess the maximum principle stress obtained and compare it to the maximum allowable stress of the material at the set temperature. If the stress obtained is greater am I to assume that the object will crack/break?

I have done a transient thermal first and then imported the data to a static structural, the time phase for the "heat up" is 60s and for static structural is 400s. I am for some reason getting very high stress values, any reason why?

Is this method of analysis correct for thermal shock or is there another route i could take?

Many Thanks.

Shak
