Hello, I am running Star CCM+ 6.04. I have a multi-cpu multi-core system and can run a total of 40 threads. I am having a couple of issues and curious if anyone has seen similar problems.
License Issue (I think) The primary host machine runs windows 7, can run 24 threads and I have been running Star CCM+ 5 for about a year with no issues. Now when I try to run the same number of threads with v6.04 it checks out one license and I get an error 23 times that says "Unable to open the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\MPICH\SMPD\process\522 4 registry key, error 5, Access is denied." Network Issue A secondary machine can run 16 threads and also runs windows 7. Both machines are connected directly to each other (i.e. not through a router. I have verified that both machines can see each other in windows and I can ping either machine in the command window from both ends. I have set up a parallel processing configuration with parallel hosts and specified the two machines. Both are indicated as valid in the "Create New Simulation" dialog window. when I try to start the simulation I get an error that says: "Error while connecting to host, No connection could be made because the target machine actively refused it. (10061)" Anyone ever seen errors like these and know what I can do to reslolve them? Thanks Scott |

speculative solution ... try deleting that key (or all keys to do with MPICH) in the registry and/or reinstall?

I think that's not a licence issue. Something went wrong with your mpich installation or registration. That's why you get the error message saying there could an mpich key in the windows registration not be opened.
The second issue might be caused by the same, but it might also be a firewall. I'm not too confident as I don't have a more than one windows machine, but windows 7 activates a firewall by default I think... |
