Hello,
I am working on an external hydrodynamics simulation simulating a stationary vehicle subject to freestream water incoming at 12.35 m/s. I am using K-E model with Y+ = 50, and turbulent intensity of 6%. I recently started a fully 3D simulation where I rotated the virtual domain 15 degrees with respect to the body of interest to see the effects of sidesweep on the vehicle. The simulation initializes properly and starts to run, but when I visualize the high turbulent dissipation rate residual, I see a pattern that resembles lightning or tree branches as shown. I have also included a picture of the mesh. Lightning Residual.png Sidesweep Mesh.png Does anyone know what might cause this? I have gone through several iterations of mesh refinement to try and troubleshoot without much luck. I also defined a new coordinate system aligned with the flow direction and aligned the mesh with that. |
