hello!
I am trying to simulate liquid hydrogen boiloff inside a cryogenic container using StarCCM+. My ultimate goal is to find out if sloshing of the tank affects boiloff rates, but I got stuck on trying to simulate basic boiloff in a stationary tank. My problem is when I try to initialize the simulation it shows an error message saying Minimum latent heat calculated from static enthalpies of phase components at the temperature of saturation is -2.84527e+06 J/kg. Minimum latent heat is unrealisticly small in Boiling Model. Command: InitializeSolution error: Server Error I am using VOF boiling tutorial provided by SIMENS as a reference. I have inputted all the required physical values of cryogenic hydrogen such as boiling temperature, specific heat, thermal conductivity, etc. I suspect this is due to the thermodynamic properties of cryogenic hydrogen either not existing or inaccurate. Plus I may need to tweak the boiling model itself to accurately simulate LH2 boiloff, as the tutorial is based on water boiling. It would be a great help to find out what exactly I'm doing wrong, and if somebody who has experience with this kind of work shares their knowledge I would appreciate it greatly. thank you! |

I am working on the same problem, but the problem is that there is no model in straccm can be used straightforward to model a cryogenic liquid as the thermodynamic properties of gas (GH2) change significantly with pressure. I had to modify a bit the inputs gas and liquid properties through user defined properties.
