Hello,
I'm currently conducting my masterthesis on the KU Leuven (in Bruges). In cooperation with Daikin Europe were are trying to model the frost formation in an air/air crossflow flat plate heat exchanger. Images of the setup and testconditions will be provided. My question is regarding the physics continuum. I was thinking of modelling the air as a multicomponent gas (air + water vapour). Is it possible to include a multiphase component inside this multicomponent gas? Seeing as on the cooling fins there will only be water ( although in different fases: solid i.e. ice and liquid i.e. water droplets) I imagine a fluid film layer must be applied to the cooling fins in order to permit ice accumulation? aswell as a dispersed mulitphase model to allow the continuum to dispersed onto the cooling fins? A shell region has already been applied to the cooling fins. The tube with refrigerant will not be modelled nor internally meshed. Any help regarding previous studies or tips and tricks is highly appreciated. You can always message me privately if preferred. Kinds regards, Evan Testconditions.jpg Setup.jpg Physics model .jpg |
