Hi everyone,
Iam trying to simulate a water entry analysis for a wedge. Due to large motion and computational expense, I want to use overset mesh. I learned that usually two meshing methods are available, tight and loose overset depending on resources and problem. In my case due to large motion and large body I try to use a loose overset where the region is large and and cell size at overset boundary is similar with background mesh. The problem is in VOF, free surface cells are quite small (biased way) to capture a sharp surface for the most of the analysis. While everything is okay, when the body get close to free surface, due to interpolation around overset boundary, i get some smearing on my free surface. Iam not sure whether this type of behaviour create large inaccuries on flow resolvement but in any case I wonder whether there is a methodology to to handle this type of situation? Iam aware that adaptive mesh refinement for overset and free surface may be useful but when I tried them it made the mesh much more incompatible. Thanks for any help in advance. |
