Greetings,
I am currently simulating the flow around a hull to calculate its drag. Previously, I exclusively used the RANS VOF method for full-scale simulations without encountering any issues. Now, due to the high volume of simulations required for my project, I am attempting to employ an inviscid approach on model scale to save time. In this specific scenario, my objective is to determine wave generation resistance (a component of pressure drag) using the VOF wave model. However, even after conducting numerous simulations, I have yet to achieve satisfactory results. This has led me to question whether it is possible to combine the volume of fluid (VOF) model, particularly for simulating waves, with the inviscid model. If not, could you please advise on alternative solutions? While I would consider a panel method, it is not available in Star-CCM+, the software I am required to use for this project. Best regards, Carlos |
