Hi, I have been working on a thermal mixing simulation and would like to estimate the discretisation errors in my solution to identify error introducing areas.
I have been researching the STAR CCM+ inbuilt adjoint solver but have run into a few issues: The Adjoint solver estimates the error by calculating the primal flow solution using both a second and third order solution and then comparing them, does this mean that the Adjoint solver cannot be applied to solutions which are already using a 3rd order solver? The Adjoint solver examples in the user manual show using it for spatial mesh adaptation for maximising the QoI. Is it also possible to use the Adjoint solver to perform mesh refinement without altering the geometry of the problem? Thank you in advance for any help, and my mistake if I missed anything in the user manual, I am a little new at this. |
