Hello,

I wanted to know if there is a difference between an axisymmetric mesh and a 2D mesh in StarCCM+. does axisymmetric mesh has a thickness?

Is there a reason on why it is called "2D Axisymmetric mesh" in the software ?

Thanks IA.

both are 2d and the only difference is that 'axi' refers to the geometry having an axis ie think of the center of a pipe. it is the 2d equivalent of a 3d symmetry plane boundary.
