Hey there,
Currently I am working on cooling 5 chips each providing 200 Watts of heat to a cooling plate. Water is used as a working fluid through the channels created in the cold plate. I have done analysis with smooth pipe surfaces; however, I would like to see the impact of rough surface on heat transfer. Now I tried assigning a roughness height of 0.5mm but nothing really seemed to change. Then, I realized there are more parameters (Wall Roughness Parameters) that I can adjust. Do I need to adjust these numbers are they are fine on their own? Or the surface height I have given is too little to make any difference? Geometrical Properties of pipes and cooling plate: -Rectangular cross section -2mm height. 14mm wide cross section -50cmx50cm cold plate Boundary conditions: -2m/s velocity inlets -Pressure outlets at 0 Pa -The pipes start with circular inlet with 10mm diameter and makes a smooth transition to rectangular pipes (Can be seen on pictures) Note: The roughness is assigned on the interface boundary between the base and the fluid. I suppose that's where I need to assign the roughness.. |
