Hello All,
I wanted to know if a non uniform flow (at inlet of porous region) comes out of a porous region uniformly (at outlet of porous region) always ? Thanks, Yogesh |

Always? No.
It can, but it may or may not make physical sense. Can you elaborate on why you are asking this question? |

Linear isotropic homogeneous porous media certainly has a tendency to. The pressure drop through porous media is generally Darcy-like, where the resistance is proportional to the square of velocity (and not linearly proportional to velocity). Whenever you have anything like this, a strong resistance to the fastest regions of the flow, there is a tendency to make the flow more uniform.
But remember LIH and Darcy-equation, etc. are just models. If you have some exotic metamaterial or heck, even dirt, there might be some consequences not covered by these models. |
