Hi, I'm trying to reopen my previously saved simulation file, however a warning appeared saying:
Design STAR-CCM+ simulation completed Server process ended unexpectedly (return code 36) Cannot open file: C: desktop\user's folder\___.sim (specify - new to create the file) Server working directory:C:\documents does this mean the saved file has to be in a particular directory for it to work? Thanks in advance. |

No, it means the file you selected to open does not exist or the system doesn't have permission to read it.

If the file does not exist you need to add
-new as option when you are calling starccm+, That's also stated in the erro message BTW starccm+ -server -new Hope it helps |

I have this same issue on a simulation I just saved!
Where do you enter the -new to create the new one? If it is in the command section it is already in there sometimes and it doesn’t work. I have put -new in every part of the code and it doesn’t work so what can I do now as I really need to get this simulation back? Please if someone could help me I really appreciate it!! Thank you |

Hello GeaorgeH25,
in the command line: starccm+ -new -server [-all_other_options_needed] You can get all options at the command line with starcmm+ --help Starting from the Client-GUI with File | New Matthias |

If you issue -new ther must not be a file name in the call of starccm+. You need to connect to the server process with the client and save the file from the client.
Please make sure you can use OneDrive within starccm+ Please make sure there a no bad literals (like "'") in the filename or directory name |
