Hello,

I have a simulation which has run under steady conditions. I want to change one of the region's continua to close a flowloop essentially.

I tried changing the continua and running he simulation on but get an error (floating point divided by 0). When I reset the mesh and clear solution and change continua of the region the simulation runs fine, so the issue appears to be when I change the continua on a simulation that has already run.

How do I map the simulation data from my first run into another with an identical mesh ie initialise a simulation with results from a previous mesh.

It should work ok when you switch from steady to unsteady.
Look for the mistake.

The issue is not the switch to unsteady, this works fine.

The problem is when I change the continua of a previously fluid section to that of a solid (to close a valve )

That is too "sudden" change and incorrect in general.

If you want to close the valve - you can model valve by:
- using overset/rotating region;
- using porous media with resistance increasing over time;
- setting momentum source in a valve region to reduce velocity to zero.
