Hello community,

I m having an issue with Star CCM+ 2019 release, concerning the mesh scene generation on a simple 2D airfoil test case. Not sure it's release related though, since I m new at using it

So I created a 3D geometry of an airfoil with a 6 region domain using Cad import for the airfoil and sketch then extrude the domain around . Then created the parts, assigned 6 regions (one for each surface), and used the badge for 2D meshing tool provided.

The targeted surface for 2D meshing does intersect my z=0 plan. Then I executed an Automated 2D mesh so step by step everything seemed to work fine.

Until this happen when I wanted to generate a mesh scene and visualize the mesh:

"Volume Meshing Pipeline Completed: CPU Time: 0.17, Wall Time: 0.17, Memory: 1231.27 MB

Cells: 193 Faces: 501 Vertices: 351
The 3D model can not be applied to region "Domain" because it has a 2D mesh.

The 3D model is only applicable to 3D regions.

Command: CreateSceneGeometry

error: Server Error"

From the tutorial I have seen, this should work. I cannot explain this error and I am not fluent enought with the software to debug it.

I know it's a bit early for having trouble at this stage but can anyone help me on this?

Thx a lot

You have the three dimensional physics model selected in your continuum. Change it out for the two dimensional model.

Hi,

Just had the same issue with the same error message trying to use Badge For 2D Meshing and Automated Mesh (2D).

Automated mesh needs a Region to work, the region created must be done after using Badge for 2D Meshing (for example by using Assign Parts to Region creating only one region for all parts).

Doing it in that precise order should work.
