Hi everyone
I have tried running a simulation and encountered this problem after 236 iterations. I have tried every possible solution from the troubleshooting section on STAR-CCM+ User's guide, but it somehow didn't work. I just don't know what caused the problem. Could anyone tell me how to fix the problem, please? **I have set under-relaxation factor as told in the user's guide = 3** ***My mesh properties: No. of Prism layers=25, Prism layer stretching=1.1, Prism thickness=2m, Core/Prism ratio=3*** Thank you Last edited by James38; August 13, 2019 at 21:41. |

Hi James,
your simulation is diverging. At some point the values become too large, and this floating point error is raised. Could you give more detail on your simulation setup? What's your goal, what physics are you using, and what boundary conditions. In case you cannot share such information. Especially check your boundary conditions. You may also try to locate what quantity and at which location your simulation is likely to diverge. For that purpose have a look into your solver objects. You'll find an option called "Temporary Storage retained". Active this for your used solvers. This option makes intermediate quantities in additional field functions available, such as the spacial distribution of residuals. Then check your domain where you get extreme values. This will allow you to check whether certain parts of the mesh are raising problems. Best regards, Sebastian |

Thank you for your reply.
My goal of this is to get the correct y+ values as what I have now is too unrealistic. For my physicals model and boundary conditions, you can see them in the attached images (if that's what you want to see). *I have already activated the temporary storage retained option when I ran the simulation* Thank you |
