Greetings all

I am trying to model a rotating airfoil using MRF with a cavity in it. During the meshing, when there were no cavity things was better but not that the cavity is placed, prism layer just can't resolve the cavity and sharp edges in the airfoil as illustrated in the picture. How can I make it to use prism layer in these areas? I am getting "floating point exception" when I run it. Any help will be appreciated.

Regards

I am not very sure, but you can give "surface control" in the operations a try(Geometry>Operations>Custom controls>Surface Control). For me it worked even thoug the edges were sharp. You can give customized control for the specific part and force to have the required number of prism layer in this region.
I wish it will help.

Thanks for the reply. I have built the mesh using Mesh Continuum so the surface controls were in the Region section and I have already tried it. BUT I have found a solution to it. It might be helpful for the others:

There were 2 ways to address this problem:
1) Using Advancing Layer Mesher which is a combination of polyhedral and prism meshes and is only available in Region based meshing and Mesh Continuum. It can produce pretty good meshes but the biggest downside is that there are no Volumetric Controls available so some regions might look crude.

2) The better option is to play with the prism layer characteristics at Meshing>Models>Prism Layer Mesher. When I reduced "Minumum Thickness Percentage" from its default value to 1 the problem with the mesh got solved.

But now do anyone have some suggestions about No of Prism layers and cell sizings on the surface and around a wind turbine blade?

Regards
