Intersecting Part Surfaces Problem

Hello all,
Hopefully there is a straight forward solution. I have attached 2 images, the first displaying the part surfaces in question, the second identifying the intersecting part surface. My problem is that when I try to mesh, I get an error that there is a 'self intersecting part' which I have identified as the surface shown in the attached image. As a result I am unable to run an automated mesh. I tried deleting the part surface (925) that is bugging me and it would run a mesh, but I get an error message that says 'surface not closed'. And this too is a problem, because I do get a 'problem indicator' on the automated mesh, yet I can view a mesh scene. However because of it, I am unable to run a simulation because there is no valid volume mesh. Any suggestions? Cheers, Oliver |

It's difficult to tell from just your screenshots, but it looks like you need to imprint the offending patch to the larger surface beneath it (in the second picture) and then either delete the imprinted area or turn it into a baffle. Alternately, you can give that patch a small offset to bring it out of contact. It really depends on the topology. If you are meshing a fluid volume around the airfoil shape, offsetting will result in the mesher attempting to fill the tiny gap with cells, and is not what you want.
