Hi Guys,

I am trying to do simulation for additive manufacturing process especially selective laser melting process. I am trying to melt particle with my user defined heat source which is laser heat source. I know it is a very complex simulation in terms of melting solidification and particle modeling and considering surface tension, marangoni effect and recoil pressure. I wanna know does somebody did this kind of simulation in star ccm+ or not? I used DEM for modelling powder but I do not know how to melt particle with VOF method and combine it with DEM. Would you please help me?

Don't know about the melting in your case. But did you search if DEM with VOF is compatible as of now? Search on Star-CCM user portal. Few month ago, I read it on forum that they may be trying to develope this, Lagrangian and VOF.

Thanks for your comment. No I didn't search for that. There are few resources for learning how to melt the particles and combining DEM with VOF though.
