Hello fellow Star-CCM+ users
I am simulating fluid inside an open-top barge that is subjected to a first-order beam seas of fixed amplitude but varying period. The barge has four tanks equally filled with a liquid close to water. We are interested in seeing the behavior of the liquid as the barge is responding to the waves. I am looking for leads because I am stuck and/or I am over complicating things. I have defined three phases: air, water and liquid content. There is no direct contact with the two fluid phases at the start but I guess maybe if the motions are too big then fluid might spill into the water. I have the VOF model and the VOF waves with first-order. I initialize a region corresponding to the fluid inside the barge at the beginning and initialized vof wave for inlet, outlet in the outer domain. But I don't know if I need to define Multiphase interaction (VOF-VOF) are air-fluid, air-water only or also add one for fluid-water. In addition, I am not sure if I have to separate pressure, velocity and volume fractions for each of the three phases. When I initialize, the VOF wave first order expands through the whole domain, including inside the barge where only the other fluid should be. Other settings: overset mesh around the barge, DFBI with 3DOF enabled. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks. |
