Hi there.

I recently started working on Star-CCM+ at work (and am the only one that has any experience with the software). I was given a 3D model made in AutoCAD in .iges/.igs, but every time I try to import it I get an error, e.g.

Parasolid function PK_ENTITY_ask_partition failed.
Error token = PK_ERROR_not_an_entity
Error code = 22
Severity = mild
Argument number = 1
Argument name = entity
Entity tag = 4140499

For both "create new part" and "create new region" I tried to change the default settings in the dialogue window, like selecting or deselecting options (I thought maybe command "Create Part Contacts from Coincident Entities" has something to do with it, but it doesn't), but the result is more or less always the same...

Unfortunately I do not have access to AutoCAD to try different file extensions. Has anyone had a similar problem with importing the mesh? I cannot seem to find any information about the entities while importing the mesh on user manual. It's only explained in case of remeshing.

I would really appreciate any form of help. Thank you.
Natalia

PS. I am using the software on virtual machine, do you think that might have an impact? (it is not connected to the internet)

If you cannot import the IGES then the only way to fix it is outside in a CAD software. If you don't have access to one that can be tough. If it is something you can share, I will take a look and see if I can open and convert it.

Hi fluid23, thank you for your reply. Unfortunately it's all confidential etc. etc. at work. However, I have managed to import the file as 3D-CAD model data - so now I guess I need to create parts/regions, generate surface and volume mesh and hopefully it will work.
