I'm trying to find the Torque of a Vertical axis wind turbine I've designed for final year project.
I'm unsure how to make my turbine rotate independent of the surrounding "wind tunnel". and then from this find the torque it produces at an input wind speed of 7m/s and a rotational speed of 40 rad/s. The rotational speed was calculated using [ w=TSR*v/r ] with a TSR of 1, v = 7m/s and r = 0.35m. I have made some simulations with the model static showing some pressure build up on the faces of the turbine, however I want to be able to calculate the Power available at different wind speeds and rotational speeds. to do this i need to find the torque, however I am very new to Star-CCM and not totally sure how to work everything. Please any help you can provide would be great, this project is due (12/01/18) and im struggling pretty bad at the moment. Cheers |
