Hi,
I am simulating the impact of logs on a structure partially submerged in water. I am simulating only the submerged part (under water). I am using DEMto model the particles. Using Hertz-Mindlina and Rolling resistance models. I am using composite particles. Logs are half-cylinders shaped. Flow is fully turbulent - SST k-omega model. When I measure forces on the logs during the collision with structure, the forces are very high - order of 10^6 N. I don't think these forces are practical. Does anyone know why this might be happening? Also, when I use larger logs, the logs pierce through the structure (it is a wall boundary). Does anyone know why this might be happening? Thank You Akshay |
