Hey,
and first of all, I am still new to CFD simulations and do lack plenty of knowledge!! I am trying to simulate a really simple wave structure interaction of a breaking wave on a fix pile. The Wave itself is not the deal. It's doing just what its supposed to do. The thing I dont get is the structure interaction since there seem to be so many ways.. The Pile is steady and not moving. The only thing I want to calculate is the total forces due to breaking wave impact and drag&inertia forces. Do I have to go with DFBI, Lagrangian Multiphase? Since only defining VOF-Eulerian-Multiphase does not do any impacts on the pile.. For the pile itself i tried to ways. 1) substracting the geometry from the mesh 2) modeling it as solid I just need a fingerpoint in the direction i need to go!! Thanks a lot! |

I really don't think you're ready for this simulation, you should probably do some more careful reading so you don't waste your own time.
If you want to calculate forces on a fixed object from two fluids that are immiscible, that's a very clear direction on which multiphase model you should choose. Take a gander through the user guide and consider which multiphase model fits that best. If you are not getting forces on your object how do you know your wave is working correctly? What do you mean there are no impacts? If the object is fixed what reason is there to model its internal stress as a solid? |
