Hi there,
I am am trying to replicate heat transfer to a piston from a fluid model acting as a heating source. I have a co-simulation set up between a solid piston model and a fluid model, where the piston crown is the coupling surface. I want to set the solid piston models physics continua initial conditions to an import mapped temperature. When using the mapped temperature as an initial condition, the piston temperature reduces, regardless of what the fluid model is doing. However, if I instead set the piston initial conditions to a constant static value, the model works and the fluid heats the piston. Therefore, the issue seems to be with using a mapped temperature as an initial condition field function. Does anyone have any ideas or advice for me? I must add that I am not experienced with Star CCM+ so any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

this is not logical and can only be caused by different boundary conditions between the two cases during solving that is assuming that the temperatures are not so extremely different between the two cases
have you checked what the mapped initial temperatures look like before solving by initializing then doing some section scenes of this field? |
