Hello,

This is my problem : there is aluminium piece (complex shape) and it is dipped in water and kept for 15 seconds..i want to calculate deformation. For the simulation purpose i have to calculate the convective heat transfer coefficient..
and i am not sure how to. the water is stagnant water and is at temp of 60C and aluminium at 500C.

I sincerely appreciate any comment and advice, thank you in advance.

According to my understanding your problem is natural convection type i think i should be easily solved by using single phase nusselt number correlation involving Prantle and Grashof's Number..

If your are really interested in CFD then try it. some tutorials of natural convection are also available in documentation if you are not familiar with interface.

Hello wassli, thanks for your reply.

The model is having a complex shape. i have a problem in selecting the reference length of that model to calculate convective heat transfer coefficient.
Yes simulation is a kind of easy one in Star CCM
