Co Simulation mapping failures ABAQUS/STAR CCM+

Hi all,
I have been trying to debug my simulation for weeks and I'm at a loss. Basically I am trying to model a wind turbine and look at the structural deformation of the blades under aerodynamic loads. I have the ABAQUS model and the Star ccm+ model setup. Both of these models work independently. However, when I run them together with the abaqus co-simulation feature in star ccm+ I get the following error; "The STAR-CCM+ mapper reported 899575 STAR-CCM+ vertices with mapping failures in zone Zone 1 (plot the Co-Simulation Map Vertex Error field function to see the failures). These vertices will be treated with a floating boundary condition in the morpher". I have checked the mesh on both models, the model sizes, location in space etc and they are all the same. Therefore I am unable to figure out where I am going wrong. Additionally, the simulation will run for 14 timesteps before it crashes. Originally I thought it was the stiffness of the blade (blade was flexing too much) but the same error occurs at timestep = 14 even if I make the blade stiffer or softer. Has anyone else here have a similar problem? Additionally, in the ABAQUS model my blades are pinned at the roots with U1 U2 U3 UR2 and UR3 = 0. I also have the same rotational velocity (as in Star ccm+) set as a boundary condition on the ABAQUS model. I have attached an image of the Co-simulation map vertex error. Thanks for any help! Regards, J |

Hi Jerry,
How did you manage to solve this issue? I am recieving a similar error in my wind turbine simulation. |

I unfortunately had no success on my end.
