Hello everyone!
I am trying to validate a naca 0012 simulation as my teacher ordered, my issue is that the trailing edge has a larger y+ than the rest of my wing, my teacher told me this is caused because my wing ends in between two cells, as it should end at the cell edge and this should cause divergence of my simulation. Could you guys give me a hint or a tool to obtain this result? Thank you all I am attaching both images of my naca trailing edge. http://imgur.com/FLM0UkD http://imgur.com/a/kvKXY Last edited by RenanJ; October 11, 2016 at 17:20. Reason: pload img did not work |

Your wing ends between 2 cells? This statement doesn't make any sense. Are you talking about the y+ value arising from the last prism layer cell at your trailing edge where your prism layers are 1 cell thick? Since you have a sharp trailng edge (which is not representative of the 0012 by the way) you will probably not be able to change settings in the prism mesher and get cells that don't taper off to zero. thickness.
I get the feeling that your professor hasn't really thought this assignment through either. Validating airfoils, particularly at low Re, can be a real pain in the rear. I suggest you search for other posts on NACA 0012 validation and see what is said there. |
