Hello everyone,
I'm writing a piece of software (in FORTRAN) to perform CFD calculations, based on a particle method. To generate the initial particle distribution over complicated domains, I'd like to use the mesh information (node coordinates) generated by STAR-CCM+ and simply put a particle in each FV node. So my software must read from an existing mesh file. Does anyone know any source of information no how a mesh file is written in STAR-CCM+? I'm looking on information on such questions as: -> How the nodes are numbered, where they are located on the file, etc. -> Does it start writing the nodes from bottom to top, left to rigth, etc. -> How are the nodes on solid walls written, where they are on the file, etc. I'm acquainted with Star-ccm+, so I would like to use this program to generate the mesh if possible. However, I'm not finding any information on the specific way the mesh information is written in a .ccm file. Thank you for your time, André Almeida |

The best place to look for documentation of any kind are the help files and the steve portal.
That being said, there is no 'mesh file' for star ccm+. You have one file that contains mesh, results, geometry... everything. However, you can export many file types and specify mesh, results, or both. I would recommend Tecplot as this is pretty straight forward in terms of connectivity and syntax although will require Tecplot to view and interpret. |

Thanks,
I'll check the portal |
