Hi all.

How can I create circular plane?

I made a cylindrical region.
Diameter of the domain is about 4 m, and I want to make a circular plane with diameter of only 0.5 m for calculating mass flow rate or axial velocity.

I searched manual and this forum, but I couldn't find.

Should I use constrained plane? I could only draw the boundary in hand roughly, not specify the diameter.

Thank you in advance.

If you have access to the CD-Adapco's Steve portal, look for the article titled "How to create a plane section with a predefined shape." It looks like what you are hoping to do.

Thank you. and I can access Steve portal.
I searched the article in 'knowledge base' but I couldn't find the article.
I think it's because I use Korea server.

I think I should define some geometry like a circle in advance, right? ..by guessing from the subject of the article.

can you explain it briefly?

Thank you.

No, use the derived part> section>cylindrical for this.

If you are after a annular section of constant radius (i.e. a hollow tube) then do what me3840 suggests.

I am not 100% clear on what your domain looks like, you say your domain is 4m in diameter and you want a section that is 0.5m in diameter. Is this floating in free space? Is there structure around it, like maybe a duct that is .5m?

If you are trying to get a circular cross-section within a duct that is surrounded by a larger air volume, do this...

1. Make sure your geometry is split so that the duct is it's own surface. Remesh (surface and volume) if necessary.

2. Create a derived part > section > plane.

3. Select ONLY the duct wall REGION BOUNDARY for your input parts.

4. Set the appropriate origin and normal.

5. Select any display parameters you want and click create.

If you are after something else, please clarify what you are trying to do.
