Hi folks,

I'm facing problems with StarCCM+ 9.
I have a mesh with a sliding interface and I'm trying to convince Star to mesh a one cell prism layer on both sides of the interface. I'm hoping for better connectivity of the in and outside cells (a colleague told me to do so, if it's bullshit please tell me!).

On the inside, Star builds the layer without any problems, but on the fixed part of the grid, it seems that star won't make the prism layer thinner than a certain value (even if the rotating part has exactly that value...).
The surrounding cells are smaller than this prism layer, which is awkward enough...

Has anybody got an idea where this strange behaviour comes from?

To clarify my point, here come some images:

The layer on the inside looks nice, like I imagined it to be...

...whereas the outer side doesn't get much thinner than this!
Notice the surrounding cells which are smaller than the prism layer cells...

Cheers,
Knigge

You were right, should be better now!

...and I thought this was because of the firewall here, or stuff.

Keep in mind: Dropbox isn't suitable for uploading pictures here!

What prism settings are you using for the outer layer?

I think I found the cause for this!

there is a "Minimum Thickness Percentage" parameter in the Prism Layer Mesher settings.
This was set to 10% and the static and rotating parts belonged to two different mesh operations.

Changing this to a lower value did the job!

Thanks for your help anyway!
