Hello everyone,

So I am trying to solve an aeroelastic flutter problem. I use the torsional and bending mode shapes as inputs for rotation and translation, respectively. I want this to be a 2D simulation.

I am having problems with having two separate regions. One region as the airfoil where I specify the motion, and a stationary fluid region with inlet/outlet conditions.

When I try to convert my mesh to 2D it doesnt keep the fluid region and I am left with a lonely airfoil I tried to do it 3D but then it doesn't recognize the airfoil as a wall and the solution to a straight flow through a box is computed...

How do you have two regions for 2D simulations?!
Thanks!

Did you create your mesh in Star ccm+? I am doing the similar work, and everything is fine.
I have two parts in 3D model, then create two regions from parts. Generate 3D mesh and convert to 2D. That's how I do it. Hope it is helpful.

How did you create the two separate parts? Did you extrude each or make them each a sheet body? Did you have to do a "subtract" to form the volume mesh?

Any info would be appreciated! Thanks Shelley!

You can create several parts from surfaces.
Right click the Geometry-> parts->surfaces ->create new part from surfaces
