Hi

I have a problem about how to check the particle tracking in postprocessing...

I have already done my steady state simulation of flow and now I want to know how to see the trajectory of a single particle...

I would be appreciative if sb can help me.

Tnx

Hi

You probably need to write out a track file. Do a search in the help with the words 'track file'

The final iteration should cause a *.trk file to be written. You can then load this under "Tools > Track" in the simulation tree. This will make various track variables available. There is also a description somewhere in the docs about plotting this via an animation etc. I don't however find that so terribly useful.

An alternative is to restart your simulation as a transient calculation, with all of the solvers set to "frozen" except the lagrangian and let a few iterations run. This way you can visualize the lagrangian phase directly. You should however remember to turn off two-way coupling to avoid polluting your results.

Hi Olesen;
Thank you for your help.
I did the one iteration with Lagrangian phase. and I saw the number of points which means that the method is ok. I also saw some of the points (tracking points) in a scene. However, do you know how to create a single streamline which passes through all of those points?

I highly appreciate your favor in advanced.
