Hello everyone,
my question will probably be the most stupid on this forum, but no way, I can't get out of this "problem" : I am just trying to draw a sketch, a rectangle!!! I've tried in 3 possible ways...but I always have the same message: PHP Code:
thank you for any help PS: I did the Tutorial for building geometry...had no problem.. |

I guess there's some kind of limit as to how big you can make the box. Do you need a 1000m^3 box?

no I need to do something smaller but I always get this message. Do we have to center the sketch? from the tutorial it doesn't seem so.

I guess the question is if you don't need something smaller, why are you generating geometry so far from the origin?

no, I'm just trying to do a rectangle from the origin, 10X100, and I get this message. I really don't get what's wrong...seems so easy!

Hi
The domain is probably limited to -500m, 500m in all directions. it's a 'feature' in star. put a suggestion on ideas storm if you think it's worth it! :-) |

Are you drawing just a rectangle and then dimensioning it, or are you trying to draw a 10x100m rectangle from the get-go? Keep in mind the default grid spacing for sketches is not 1m.

yes, I just draw a rectangle and redimension it; I also changed the spacing...I don't know. I've found a previous file with a geometry based on a rectangle, I've put away all I didn't need and kept the rectangle, redimensioned it and it worked...really, I don't understand what was wrong in my way of proceeding..

Christine, I'm having the same problem. Here are my steps:
Version 9.02.005 Geometry > 3D-CAD Models > New 3D-CAD Model 1 > Import > 3D Curve > [.csv file loaded] > Import as 3D polyline + Closed curve Points are imported and curves created and shown successfully. It's a "big" 2D geometry, used for atmospheric boundary layer calculation, a 5000m x 800m rectangle. 3DCurve1 > Create extrude > 50m Error 1: Feature execution failed. Extrude 1 : Curve not found in curvePrimIdMap Command: ExecuteFeature error: Server Error Smaller extrude values do not avoid the problem. Then I try to delete the unsuccessful extrude and I get your error: Error 2: Execution failed. 3DCurve 1 : Point creation failed. Point is out of valid boundary, It must be within an origin centered box whose size is 1000 by 1000 by 1000 meters. Please check the input sketch. Command: DeleteFeatures error: Server Error Then I try to repeat the process with a smaller geometry, a 5m x 8m rectangle. I still get Error 1, but not Error 2. Any help? |

Hi Marco,
Maybe curves are recognized but STARCCM+ then can't "work" on them as they are. Have you tried to import the curves in another way than "3D polyline + Closed curve" if other options exist (I have no *.csv file so I can't see what choices are available). |

Actually the import is successful on version 9, the extrude command isn't (neither with huge geometries nor smaller than 1000m).
The only way I found to get rid of this problem was by importing the .csv file with coordinates reduced by a factor of 0.001 on version 8, creating the extrude, saving, opening on version 9, creating the part, then re-scaling the geometry by a factor of 1000. |

Considering the need of working on sketches smaller than 1000m, CD-ADAPCO's support told me this a limitation of Parasolid's kernel, which is the base of 3D-CAD.

Been having the same issue here, I create a simple csv file to automate my geometry creation (kind of)
When trying to loft/extrude the 3d-curve then the error appears. I used to do it in the previous version (v7/v8), so is this a bug? Anyone has the same issue or any solution? |

I am a kind of new to startCCM and I am going to model a geometry which I have taken data from MATLAB regarding the points and lines. However, when I get through imprinting to make a sheet over lines, I came across an error said" Open wireframe. Please check the input sketch". It would be really appreciated if someone let me know how to manage this issue. The relevant photo is attached.

Hmm my first thought will be that there really is an open wireframe in your model.
