I am trying to simulate a simple sphere in freestream air flow of 40 m/sec in Star CCM+ to calculate the lift and drag coefficient. For this, I have a sphere.iges imported as surface mesh. While generating volume mesh, I keep getting an error "error in surface mesh of Region Region1: Surface is not closed".
Being new to this software, I'am not able to figure out where the problem is. Can someone please help me out on this ? Last edited by rayzcorp; March 24, 2013 at 10:16. Reason: title change |

Your geometry file is probably corrupted.
There are ways in CCM+ to clean up geometries (some tutorials cover this) but for a simple one like a sphere, I would rather build the geometry in CCM+ instead of repairing the imported geometry. |

thank you Alex for your reply. Actually the geometry is not only a sphere...but a sphere with an ring with x diameter, offset parallely to the plane passing through it's centre. So I decided creating the geometry in Catia. And thanks..the problem got solved.
But now I have another problem. Is there any way I can export my volume mesh generated in Star ccm+ to Fluent? trimmer module has been used Last edited by rayzcorp; March 26, 2013 at 11:54. Reason: wrong data |
