Does anyone know how to use CLSVOF on star-ccm+? I need it for my research. Thanks.

Have you had a look into the user guide if it's available at all?

Hey abdul,

Coupled Level Set Volume-of-Fluid (CLSVOF) method is not included in the user guide at all. I was just wondering if someone has done CLSVOF or even Level set before using star-ccm+. Atleast, can Level-set be used in star-ccm+? Thanks.

When it's not in the user guide, it's most likely not available. Additionally I've never heard it to be in CCM+, so I think that are bad news for you.

Do you have any information how CLSVOF works? I had a look in my book but couldn't find anything, but I'm interested how it works, what are the advantages, disadvantages etc...

Hey abdul,

CLSVOF combines both advantages of LS and VOF i.e. good mass conservation, surface curvature is better with a better 3D representation. It solves both advection equations, LS is coupled to the volume fraction function using a function. Disadvantage is obviously more complexity due to the two advection eqns although computation cost is just comparable to that of LS. For details, you can start your literature review with this "a coupled level set and volume-of-fluid method for computing 3D and axisymmetric incompressible two-phase flows" by Sussman and Puckett. It's been on for quite a while.

I was hoping to see if anyone had found a way to use CLSVOF on star-ccm+. Pls let me know if you're able to use it. Thanks.

Level set function is available in FLUENT VOF.

However Star CCM+ uses HRICS and some simplified technique.
