I am having a strange issue and I'm wondering if anyone else has come across this problem. When I create my volume meshes with the polyhedral mesher and optimization checked, the mesh generation typically stalls (for hours) during the optimization portion. I typically disable the optimization now when generating my meshes. Anyone else having this problem?
Thanks, ML |

Mlynam,
I have had the same problem as well (using Star CCM+ v1.3). It appears as if it is stalled, however, it is not. The CPU Processor shows that the program is running. I let it run over night and in the morning, the mesh was optimized. I too disable this or let it run overnight if I can afford the time. |

I build polyhedral meshes almost every day and I did not notice that the optimization phase takes hours. I wonder what version of the code you are using and more over what kind of meshes you are building. The only reason I can think of why the optimization phase should take a very long time is when the polyhedral mesh for some reason has a very large number of low quality cells.
