Hello everyones,
I'm a new member. I'm learning Star-CCM. Now I want to simulate a ball rotating in fluid, using turbulence flow. But I don't know how to do it. Can you help me? Another question is: I want to simulate a turbulence fow past an airfoil (likes NACA XXXX) but I don't now how to do it. Please show me what I have to do? Thanks! |

For simulation of a turbulent flow over an airfoil simply follow the tutorials in STAR CCM+ which shows the flow over a bluff body. I guess this is the
very first tutorial if you go from the help menu. For rotational velocity specification, go under the specified boundary go to Physics Conditions -> Tangential Velocity Specification -> Method and select Rotational Rate. hope this helps. |

Thanks Vishyaroon! My problem is how to generate a good mesh for NACA section? can you show me what kind of mesher and what are the setting values for this simulation?
Thanks alot! |

Meshing an airfoil will depend on the turbulence model you choose to work with. You may want to look into the details of the turbulence model and the near wall y+ it requires (this varies from model to model) for generating the mesh.
