Default Post processing - Wall shear stress

Dear all,

I've got an internal flow problem and I am trying to get the (wall) shear stress from the results. STAR will only give me shear forces and in the manual it looks like it calculates the shear forces using this shear stress that I want (p 105 star_method.pdf). Has anyone got an idea how to extract the shear stress directly without lengthy (back)calculations using the shear forces?

Cheers

I assume you simply want to divide the force by the area of the shell to get from force to stress

In which case if you do

OPER GETC AREA 5

OPER DIVI 1 5 1

OPER DIVI 2 5 2

OPER DIVI 3 5 3

This should get you the stesses (I believe)

It will be in the global system unless you use PSYS

There are many wall force options so make sure you really do have the one you want.

Getting the forces in face local co-ordinates would be more involved.
