Hi,
Does someone here know what is Star-CD or Star-CCM+ price approximately? Does it have permanent or annual license? I asked price from CD- adapco via email just few days ago and have not yet get their answer. I mainly need to know is it right away out of our budget and will we go ahead with other software purchase... |

It depends on what you are buying, cheaper than ansys more expensive that cfdesign & floworks in my experience....Star-ccm+ is cheaper than star-cd I think but as I say, you need to negotiate it with the folks at cd to find out.

about $US 30K for 1 seat, annual license. But it will differ if you want to do parallel run, use both star-cd and star-ccm+, etc.

Thank you Harry and solarwind. I think we are looking for software with permanent license and this annual case is a big minus from our viewpoint.
I'm still waiting information from CD- Adapco people. $US 30K price would not be bad if it would be for permanent license... |

US$ 30K for perpetual is definitely not for Star-cd or Star-ccm+. The annual price is about that. If you want it that cheap, perhaps look for different software with lesser functionalities (e.g. Nika Flowmerics) or pay some Profs at nearby universities to customize a code for you based on your specific needs... which depends on what area of fluid studies or what kind of fluid problems your company usually work on (simple problems or complex problems?).

I'm not sure where you got your numbers from but 30k is way over the mark...

Alternatively you could just buy Fluent and help ANSYS pay off the £450m unsecured loan that they used to buy ANSOFT

CD- adapco sales person has now emailed me yesterday. I guess my price request went from German office to UK.
I have found that sometimes these CFD software prices can be very interesting topic: When I asked cheapest possible price for Fluent FloWizard about year ago from local reseller in my home country, I was told that price is around 50000 eur, that is about 64700 USD... With a quick web search I can find sites like these: http://www.mcadonline.com/index.php?...=143&Itemid=73 http://66.195.41.10/Articles/Cover-S...050501416.html Where is told that starting price is around 5500-7000 USD... But that's a different topic and belong to Fluent forum. |
