Hi All,
Here we have star-ccm+ with 4 license. and we also have shared memeory machines and parallel machines with 20 processors. By default starccm+ uses only one license and runs in ONE processor. How can i make use of all the 4 processors? anybody knows how to set this in star-CCM+ or in proAMM? I could not find the number of processors used to generate poly mesh. it is very ugly, because we have a big complex geometry which needs to be meshed but we could not set the No. processors. Can anyone help! |

first if you create a new simulation, you need to set the parallel options-> run all processes on local host->compute processes:4

ok i will have a look. And do you know how this can be set in Proamm. i mean, Proam also supports poly meshing in mesh wizard, there we do not have such options. did you know anything for that?
Kind Regards, |

Not only when you first create it, but also when you open the simulation you can specify the number and location of the processors to be used.

Although you can specify the number of processes for a simulation in Star-CCM+ the meshing itself is still carried out in serial, in pro-am the same is true, you only run the solver in parallel.

Pro-Am mesh trimming runs in parallel. In the trim cell generation panel you specify the number of domains & the number of processors.

The parallel trimmer is so ugly. i never recommend that.
So the ploy meshing becomes trivial when the domain is so large. so the serial only processor operation take quite long time for to compute mesh. this is how it should n't be anyway. Thanks guys. |
