Dear all, I'm looking for some feedback by someone that uses STAR-CD on a Cluster Linux+OpenMosix.
There is anyone around the world that works with this platform? Thanks in advance for your contribute. CFD_User |

you need to ask your account manager for this. He should know this

The account manager is going to say that CD-adapco supports Red Hat Enterprise and Suse Enterprise. Any other version of linux and you are on your own.

I'm still waiting the answer also from national account manager even though this is not what I asked for. I would need an evidence that some STAR-CD user experienced a full functionality and good performance of STAR-CD installed on a Linux-Cluster working with the OpenMOSIX kernel patch that should handle in a perfect way all parallel process.
Thank you for your attention Ketal and TG. CFD_User |

I am just wondering why you want to use OpenMOSIX. I have never tried it but I don't think its a good idea. Th eroject is dead.

Checking the site http://www.mosix.org/ it seems that the platform is still available.
Some papers about this platform sounds interesting arguments related to perform CFD on HPC. Bye. CFD_User |

Yes available but no longer developed. If you have a cluster why not run it in a conventional way?

I think, that the best way how to find out is to try. People from adapco will never say yes to systems they are not working with. So at the end you'll have to try yourself anyway. Personally I know Star-CD runs on derivatives of RedHat like OpenSuse, Cent-OS, as well as on debians or gentoo. I do not think you can get much from the system itself, it is the network and version and tuning of MPI where you can gain some speed. But this is only my believe. I'm not any cluster guru.
