Hi guys, I am analyzing flow in the vane Pump using Star-CD 3.26(OS Win64, core Quad(4CPUs)). I want to run solver using 4CPUs. I tried to run using "star 4", but star didn't start and it says geometry decomp error. I heard that when moving mesh with events is used then I have to use manually SETS for decomposition method. My question is that how I can do manual decomp by sets? Any advice is most welcome!

Create a set file (help setw) defining the cell set's you want to go on each processor. Be sure to follow the StarCD requirements for moving mesh decomposition - they are in the manual.

thanks a lot Pauli, First i will try to run using 2CPUs. Model has two attach boundaries, so i have to specify one CPU to each attach boundary, right? To be honest, i don't have much experience about parallel computing. Can you be more specific how to do?
Thanks an advance for help Regards |

Not one attach boundary per processor but one interface per processor. And one interface consists of 2 attach boundaries.

Don't use all 4 cores. If u do, u may aswell be using 0.5 of a core. Simulations will slow down drastically due to FSB overload. Also, u need some processing power to keep the computer alive.
I would suggest to think along the lines of 2-3 cores |
