Writing geometry files in STAR-CD

My geometry shows the connectivity error. I tried all VMERGE and COUPLE options but I could not remove the error. I can still write geometry and problem file and it does not show any error while writing those files. Manual says that writing geometry files take care of the problem (I do not know why and how)I can run the analysis without any problem. Shall I worry abt the connectivity problem then?
Thanks. Sachin |

Hi,
To Run the file in Starcd we should have following files (.geom file, .prp file, .inc file and .bnd file.) But what I'm doing Instead of .geom I'm taking .cel file & .vrt file now if i give Run its giving following error. Cannot find any ".geom" file So , I'm not getting .cel and .vrt file problem it has ,could you explain me clearly? |

If you have a crack in your model, the program doesn't know whether that's intentional or a mistake. If it finds a cell face that's not connected to another cell face it just places a default wall boundary on the cell face assuming its an external face. If you have 1 extra wall boundary in 10million faces, its probably not going to make much difference. If your crack extends 90% of way from one side of a flow to the other, then it is something to worry about.

The STAR solver cannot read .cel and .vrt files. You need to read them into prostar and write out a .geom file. That's the only geometry file the solver understands.

Thanks for replying. I can not see where the crack is in the model. Each time it shows crack error, I go to "Quick Hidden Line" plot and then it does not show anything. I could never saw any crack in the model. But still the model check gives me crack error. Do you have an idea how to locate crack in the model? In my case I can not see it. I could see in another problem but not in this problem. Thank you for your time and consideration.
