I would like to generate multiple custom mesh in Proam since my geometry is having bend of 45 deg. so i need to align the grid lines parallel to flow direction. is it possible.

i will use multiple co-ordinate system for that, does proam have option for multiple custom mesh using 2 co-ordinates. if so how do i assemble both of them.

Hi,

I used custom mesh with multiple coordinates in proam before for engine ports generation.

Just generate the custom mesh as you do in prostar and save it to dbase 11. Dont forget to chose 11 fro Template DBID in Generate Mesh section in the proam mesh wizard.

actually my doubt is creating multiple custom mesh, let us say 2 different custom mesh for the single geometry in different direction ( using co-ordinate system). half of my geometry will have custom mesh in one direction and other half will have cells in other direction( 2nd cor-od. system i used for that).

finally i should have single custom mesh which is stored in any database( let us say 11), and i will use 11 during Mesh generation.

so the aim is to align all the grid lines parallel to FLOW as far as possible.

you have any idea for this?

Do you mean your geometry has 2 separated parts?

I think you can still built them up in the same custom mesh, as long as the mesh envelope the geometry and the coordinates in the mesh coincide with those in your geometry.

my geometry is single, fully closed but i want to generate a grid lines in two different directiong ( for 1st half of the model grid lines should be in co-ord. system 1, and for the other half it should be in some other co-ord. system.)

so can i mesh the model separetely eventhough my geometry is single closed watertight.?

or how can i plan the mesh for multiple custom mesh.?

or how do i specify two different co-ord. systems during meshing.?

If this is not possible then i really thnking of making the geometry by 2 pecies and meshing separetely with different co-ord system.

Take a look at star tutorial 2.4 and generate the custom mesh according to it, is that a bit like your geometry?

not exactly the same, the tutorial model has pipe 90 degree bend but mine is 45 degree.

For tutorial case, they have not used Proam mesh.

in case of tutorial model, only one co-ord. system is sufficient, but mine is needed two co-ord, one is for stright pipe one and other co-ord for 45 degree bend pipe.

Still, without creating the middle interface i mean, splitting the geiometry into two, how do we generate two custom mesh, that is what challenge, is it?

You have to use exactly ONE custom mesh and nothing else if you want to mesh a simple 45 degree bend using proam.

as i said, i have both stright horizontal pipe and 45 degree pipe which is connected to it.

r u getting now.? so single custum mesh is not suffcient to get streamlined grids.

so infact, i should consider multiple custum mesh.

I think that is about similar.

What I do for my ports mesh is: 1.start proam 2.generate the custom mesh using prostar commands and cell tools. save it to dbase 11. 3.import the geometry surface and process it. 4.cut the custom mesh with the processed surface. (There is no need for my case to go to the last step in the proam wizard.)

yep, that can be done. but it needs more work, like we have to carefull about planning the custum mesh ,we going to generate. since we need to fit the future surface meshed geometry inside of it.

and still, creating custom mesh using prostar cell tools are very diffuclt even for simple geometry.
