New week, new problem!

When I take a screen shot using the menu bar the picture shows black spots where the menu was placed.

How can I avoid those black shadows or spots?

I work in glm mode.

How do you exactly take the screenshot? Screen -> Save as ...?

Either use the "scdu" or the "hrsd" command. There is no need to use the menue. The "hrsd" even works in batch mode using the mesa port of prostar.

However, hrsd only works in gl-Mode.

I take screen shots by using ->Utility->Save Screen As->Gif.

Thanks for the hints, I will test them.

Use save high defination screen dump. Then save the command that you just use to save the picture from command panel to a macro file. Run the macro file or cut and paste it into command input bar.

Here the manual for beginners:

1. write a loop (see Tut. 15.1) 2. enter: SCDUMP,GIF,1 (means: save it in gif-format, starting with first frame) 3. start the loop 4. enter: SCDUMP,OFF

=> a screen shot of every time step is saved in the current directory.

It depends on your operating system. If Linux (or unix-kind), I think you may need to write additional option to your X-windows configuration file, section 'screen' in particular. If windows, the setup is related to the emulator you use to run prostar on ms-windows. All the procedures are described in the installation guide. Another thing, and maybe the most important is which star version you are talking about.

Sometimes, when you save many picture by means of the menu Save As->... Pro-S run-out and exit...
I suggest to use the *loop command as c-dot said, it's simple and it works well, without any problem...
Just write something like
*set frm 1 1
*defi,noex
your commands here
scdu,gif,frm
replot
scdu,off
*end
*loop,1,n,1
and in "your commands" remember to load a time step from the .pstt file for each loop (store next command is helpful)
