dear people of the forum
my company is looking to buy a new cfd code and we are looking also the star cd and ccm++ , i have two questions that are important for us, 1) the ccm++ does have sliding mesh and which fuctions of the star cd does not have? 2) is the new version of star cd making FSI ??? because somewhere i read that it does not need a structural software for FSI. 3) can anyone tell me between gambit-fluent and ansys-cfx and star cd which thing are better to each software?? best regards nikolaos |

Can you provide some more info on what your application is? There are lots of different things that fall under FSI (see this article http://www.cd-adapco.com/press_room/...tructures.html that outlines all the different approaches).
To attempt to answer your questions: 1) yes, ccm+ has a sliding mesh. It's difficult to say what it's missing, as it depends on what your application is. For somethings - like highly compressible flow - ccm+ is better, for others - like internal combustion engines - star-cd is better. 2) yes, star-cd v4 does fsi. It has a direct link to abaqus in it. It also has its own finite volume stress capability, so you can do the flow and structural calculation all in star. It's worth finding out more on this because it's not applicable to all stress calculations. |

... it might be interesting, if anyone has ever used it!? Any experiences, examples or tutorials available?? |

Hi, can anyone share more info about this FSI in v4? Without passing to Abaqus, what are the limits of FSI in v4?
